(PNS reporting from NEW YORK CITY) Beloved PBS personality Big Bird has finally broken his silence over presidential nopeful Willard “Mitt” Romney’s death threats, which the Massachusetts governor made on national television. Mr. Bird issued his statement this morning while surrounded by friends on New York’s Sesame Street.

“Mr. Romney, this Bird you cannot change,” said the freakishly-large yellow avian creature, who revealed he was pleased with the presidential election results.

Mr. Bird’s statement was all the more poignant because it was made on a corner ravaged by Hurricane Sandy. The press conference was held near the intersection where friend and fellow PBS star Oscar the Grouch’s trashcan home was destroyed last week.

The Romney controversy was heightened when Big Bird was harassed on the set by members of Muppets for Mitt. The incident prompted an episode of Sesame Street to focus on bullying, and although many felt Big Bird should have pressed charges, the offending muppets were literally given a slap on the wrist by producers.
