Hip Hop Hoodíos light ‘Ocho Kandelikas’ for Hanukkah

Hanukkah begins at sunset on Tuesday, Dec. 20 and ends at sunset on Wednesday, Dec. 28: ocho noches, ocho kandelikas.

Here’s a more traditional (if big band salsa is traditional!) version of Ocho Kandelikas — Valley cantor Kenny Ellis sings and swings. The lyrics are in Ladino, the Sephardic language with roots in Spanish and Hebrew. Cantor Ellis also swings  on the traditional I Have A Little Dreidel (The Dreidel Song.)
