Great pochos in music history: The Three O’Clock ‘I Go Wild’

TGIF Music Video: The Three O’Clock I Go Wild (1983). The Three O’Clock were progenitors of L.A.’s Paisley Underground scene that would spawn Mazzy Star, Concrete Blonde, The Plimsouls, cult faves Opal and Rain Parade and most notably The Bangles. One look at this video and you can see that Susanna Hoffs copped her moves and coy performing style from The Three O’Clock’s teenage pocho singer Michael Quercio. Like The Bangles, The Three O’Clock were courted by Prince, whose Paisley Park label released their album Vermillion.

A staple of the early 80s mod scene, the Three O’Clock actually boasted three pochos, including guitarist Louis Gutierrez and keyboardist Mike Mariano.

These pochos are so mod, you can almost smell the patchouli!

I’ve loved the Bangles since I was in elementary school. The 60s had some early pocho-mod bands like Cannibal and the Headhunters and ? and the Mysterians.

But, I won’t cry 96 tears over it… http://youtu.be/R7uC5m-IRns
