What does it mean to be black and Latino in the U.S.? Black History Month is a good time to ask.
This video features interviews with Latino actors Laz Alonso (“Avatar”, “Jumping the Broom”), Tatyana Ali (“Fresh Prince of Bel Air”), Gina Torres (“Suits, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys”) and Judy Reyes (“Scrubs”), musicians Christina Milian (“Dip it Low”) and Kat DeLuna (“Whine Up”), and journalist Soledad O’Brien (CNN).
What’s it like for you? Do you have good hair or bad hair?

It’s funny how some of these Actresses say they had problems landing latin roles, I don’t know about everyone else but I didn’t even know they were Latin, maybe the problem was how proud they were to be Latina?
Anyways love to see the pride now, LOVE LATIN, be proud, it doesn’t mater what part of Latin America your from we all love beans & rice!
WHo knew there was a Latina on the Fresh Prince of Bel Air?
The term “hispanic” that appears at the beginning of this video is repulsive… It means a person of ‘Spanish’ descent. Peoples from the Western Hemisphere south of the United States are not ‘Spanish’ or ‘hispanic’… they are indigenous and/or of African descent…
Very Insightful piece- Thank you for bringing this up as Black History month comes to an end.
