As of today, November 25, my nationally-syndicated daily comic strip La Cucaracha is 17 years old!
La Cucaracha is the first national politically-themed Latino daily comic strip in U.S. history and only the third Latino-themed comic daily ever. (Gordo and Baldo precede me by 61 and 2 years, respectively.)
Thanks to everybody who has read and supported the strip, and especially those who had to put up with me over this era, including the whole staff of Andrews McMeel Syndication, my editors, Lisa Tarry, Shena Wolf, Greg Melvin, graphic guru Robert Hightower, and of course Lee Salem (RIP), the editor-in-chief at Universal Press Syndicate who launched me onto national stage.
And also mega thanks to Dennis Wilen aka Comic Saenz here at POCHO for tirelessly posting my comics, and my newish assistant artist, Joaquin Junco aka Junco Canché, who helps me keep my sanity every week by drawing great strips for me.
Please share my comics at GoComics.com/lacucaracha to help us keep “the little comic strip that could” going a little longer!
Gracias!
