(PNS reporting from MEXICO CITY, D.F.) Mexico’s largest and longest-flying airline announced today that it is undergoing a complete corporate makeover.
Aeromexico Chief of Communications Rigoberto Saenz Bolillo explained in this statement:
We are going through a rebranding, and we are shedding our old name Aeromexico, and our logo, which evokes an Aztec Eagle warrior flying through the air. A flying Indio was frightening to the new type of upscale passenger we are going after, and that is why Aeromexico will now be known as GueroMexico.
Bolillo added:
Since the casting call for our latest commercial was released to the media, in which our ad agency Catatonica made clear that “no morenos”, or dark-skinned actors, need apply for our spot, we feel it is the perfect time to reveal our complete corporate rebranding. GueroMexico, which will become an exclusive airline for lightskinned travelers. No longer will lightskinned European-hued travelers have to suffer while traveling alongside dark-skinned Mexican tourists and their caged chickens and goats. Never again will there be any confusion between moreno passengers and the dark-skinned flight attendants and mechanics
The name change is immediate and all dark-skinned staff have been given a one hour layoff notice.
GueroMexico also announced it will be the exclusive airline for all Mexican television on air personalities.
