South Carolina KKK Confederate flag march is better with tuba (video)

tubakkkEarlier this week, in Columbia, South Carolina, Confederate-flag-waving Ku Klux Klan white wingers paraded downtown. The paramilitary-garbed haters were joined by an uninvited sousaphone player who provided ironic musical accompaniment. (A sousaphone is the marching band variety of tuba that wraps around the player, making it easier to carry.) Enjoy the tubalicious music (is that Wagner?) AND the play-by-play commentary from a woman who may also be the videographer/uploader. “Stupid is as stupid does,” she notes. “This is a family tree with no branches.”

Chef Lindsay: How do you make fried kee-so tacos at El Cortez?

They look scrumptious — especially the cheese that she crisps on the grill at El Cortez — but please, Chef Lindsay Porter, it’s kay-so, not kee-so! To be fair, El Cortez is in Edmonton, Alberta, Canadia, where they call their dollars “Loonies.” PRO TIP: Cortez is NOT a Mexican hero, unless you mean the Nike Cortez.

Local MEChA group ejected from Hong Kong returns to U.S.

hongkongdemo(PNS reporting from FRESNO) The 16 Cal State Fresno MEChA students who flew to Hong Kong to join the student protest — but were quickly kicked out of the demonstration — returned home late Sunday night.

The students were ejected from Occupy Central after Hong Kong student organizers discovered that the Movimiento Estudiantil Chican@ de Aztlán backed the Chinese Communist government. As the only Reds participating in the protests, their calls for “revolution” differed significantly from the protestors’ demands.

Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah Zip-a-Dee-Guns; Hola Anaheim, We’re Havin’ Fun

Now in the shadows of the world’s most famous amusement park residents of Anaheim are bravely (and in some cases stupidly) confronting the Anaheim Police Department, an at times callous, authoritative government power that isn’t accustomed to being questioned even when it executes people. Crisis always spurs creativity and the most original ideas are presently forming outside of the gates of Disneyland.
