We didn’t cross the border, the border crossed us.

Happy Rosh HaShana from the Jews of Tijuana! Happy 5778! (video)
Mexico, like the United Estates, is a “nation of immigrants.”
In the 1900s, Tijuana welcomed Jewish refugees fleeing wars, hate, and poverty in Europe, Asia and the Mideast.
Tijuana Jews, the story of the extended Artenstein family, has become a POCHO Rosh HaShana (New Year) tradition ever since we noticed rosh-ha-shana rhymed with Tijuana in 2012.

Pocho Ocho worst new names for Hispanic Heritage Month
The pinche Trump administration is stuck with the annual observance of National “Hispanic” Heritage Month 2017, which begins today, but that doesn’t mean they like it. The POCHO news team has learned that the white wing traitors, crooks, and colluders at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue ran through a list of alternative names for the observance before being shot down by the only Latina Trump knows — Lisa A Malinche, a low-level staffer.
Here are the Pocho Ocho worst new names for Hispanic Heritage Month:

LBJ: War on Poverty. Nixon: War on Drugs. Trump: War on Immigrants
President Donald J. Trump and his administration’s immigration agenda centers on draconian, enforcement-based policies and executive orders, exacerbating an already dysfunctional immigration system. As an extension of Trump’s then–presidential campaign, the Trump administration’s immigration policies also represent racist and xenophobic practices, such as anti-Mexicanism and Islamophobia. Like Trump’s “Make America Great Again” campaign slogan, these immigration policies and orders promote an isolationist and white nativist philosophy, hearkening back to the more oppressive periods of U.S. history when racialized groups (e.g., Latinos, African Americans) lacked basic civil rights, privileges and freedoms under the law.

The Corn Gods are not pleased when immigrants hurt immigrants
The corn gods are not pleased.
In a year of increased hate crimes against immigrants and people of color, and also rampant xenophobia, Islamophobia, misogyny, and anti-Semitism, I’m not surprised that the ire of mouth breathers has turned to street vendors.
