From England: Chicken teriyaki tacos with pineapple salsa (video)

Looks pretty good, actually. A legit chicken teriyaki recipe, authentic pico de gallo/salsa made with grilled piña, and of course everything tastes better on a tortilla. We have three questions, though:

  1. Where did the rice come from?
  2. How can it be a “healthier” with a lettuce wrap instead of a tortilla? Corn tortillas are GLUTEN FREE, ENGLISH DUDE. Also, no tortilla, no taco.
  3. Wassup with the Christmas music soundtrack on a video uploaded March 27?

Philly’s Frankford section still isn’t heaven, but it has tacos! (videos)

In the late 1960s, Philadelphia band The American Dream had a local hit with a novelty song about public transportation and the North Philly neighborhood of Frankford.

You Can’t Get to Heaven on the Frankford El,” they sang, “because the Frankford El goes straight to Frankford.” As a refugee from Philly living in LaLa Land since the late 1970s, that was the last time I thought about Frankford, until I found this new video about a taco truck bringing some cool comida to the hood.

How-to Recipe Video: Korean pork belly bulgogi tacos with peanuts

Gabiekook shows us how to make Korean pork belly bulgogi tacos with peanuts. But first you need to answer her question: [[우리집에왜왔니?]] 국가비의 코리안 타코편 (Why did you come to my house?) Aside from the religious issues we have regarding wheat vs corn tortillas, the marinade and saucing stuff look muy rico! Oh, and nice mustache!

Is this the worst taqueria video of 2016? Spoiler: It’s from France

otacosIs this the worst online taqueria video of 2016? Spoiler: No tacos were filmed in the making of this O’tacos video. P.S.: It’s from France.

It looks like O’tacos offers a “Philly” taco (suspiciously burrito-looking) which includes provolone cheese and grilled onions. How do they say “cheesesteak” in France?

Hola! Aloha! Why so much Mexican food in small town Hawaii? (video)

Today we remember Rudy Martinez, a Mexican-American from San Diego who became the first Latino casualty of the Second World War when the Japanese sunk his ship, the U.S.S. Utah, in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii 75 years ago today, December 7, 1941.

Martinez’ story inspired us to search for “Mexican” AND “Hawaii” and we found this video from Kapa’a High School on the (Garden) island of Kauai. The kids wanted to know why their small town of 10,000 — a community with just one Starbucks — was lucky enough to have nine Mexican restaurants.

From France: Creamed potatoes, red onions, and cheese ‘tacos’ (video)

Home fries, red onions, cream sauce and Pont-L’Evêque cheese are the stars of this one-minute recipe video for “tacos” from Elle&Vire, a diary conglomerate in France’s Normandy region. But this begs the critical tortilla-based question: Corn or wheat? Also note that they call tortillas “galettes fajitas,” which translates as fajita pancakes. Unclear on the concept, n’est-ce pas? On the other hand, since they want you to heat the assembled dish on a griddle at 400° for five minutes, and then fold it up, it’s actually a potato quesadilla. Or something.

Dear Trump Voter Ashley: We are real people, not your ‘Taco Tuesday’

familyguytacosDear Ashley,

I don’t really know you very well. I met you for the first time when my family and I travelled to Rogers, Arkansas to see you marry my nephew. I knew my nephew at some point. I saw him grow up here in Los Angeles until my brother and his wife thought the streets of Woodland Hills too gang-infested and uprooted their entire family to the enclaves of my sister-in-law’s home state.

Shortly after, sometime in the 1990s, my mother and I travelled to Arkansas on an Amtrak train for two days (don’t ask – I still haven’t forgiven my mother for refusing to fly) to visit and see our family’s new dwellings.

You weren’t in the picture yet – your husband was still a teenager. Despite the torturous train ride, we relished the opportunity to spend time with my brother and his family. We were even excited to see a new part of the country.
